Our languages are unique in the variety of words that we use around the nation. While we may purchase our favorite beer at a "liquor store" here in Colorado, a Bostonian may buy their spirits at a "packie." There are even widespread studies asking what people may call a fizzie-carbonated beverage - pop, soda, or "A Coke."
It can be especially confusing for people from other parts of the nation, such as this video that showed up on my Facebook feed the other day. It shows a German man trying to figure out what the term "Party Pooper" means.
We know a party pooper is someone that spoils the fun. But this man seems to think it's someone who uses the commode (or toilet, or potty) at a party. He seems to think the "party pooper" in question is someone whose thrill is being a sort of "poop exhibitionist" who uses parties as her venue.
