When someone asked me this question, I could not stop thinkng about it. I had arguements with myself and went back and forth on some for an hour. Either way, these are MY top 10 favortite albums of all time. In saying that, I know there will be people who do not agree with these picks... because they are MINE! Not yours. This is personal... my list would have been different if you said name the "Top 10 Most Influential Albums In Music History" etc. I had fun doing this! You should do it and if you do, I would love to see it! Here ya go....
10. Guns N’ Roses “Appetite For Destruction” – I always leaned
more towards hip hop, but when I heard the guitar riff in “Welcome To The
Jungle” I flipped out! This album was definitely a staple in my childhood!”
9. N.W.A. “Straight Outta Compton” – I remember hiding this
cassette tape from my Mom, because she would have KILLED me for having it! The
emotion in this album was crazy, it was scary/real and everything mainstream
America didn’t want to hear. I loved it.”
8. Nirvana “Nevermind” – This album felt like it came out of
nowhere and changed the course of music in a way. Created it’s own LANE
(“Grunge”), that’s pretty powerful.
7. Snoop Dogg “DoggyStyle” – One of the few albums where the
production almost OUT SHINES the artist! Snoop is amazing, but Dr. Dre’s
production on this album was incredible. I would have bought it if it was all
instrumentals.
6. Rage Against The Machine “Rage Against The Machine”- I had
never heard anything like this when I first popped this CD in. I was addicted!
The emotion mixed with the elements of Hip Hop and Metal had me hooked
instantly. Classic!
5. Notorious BIG “Ready To Die”- This felt so REAL, almost like
he was telling you his life story, not just rapping. One of the best Hip Hop
albums EVER in my opinion.
4. 2Pac “All Eyez On Me” – You didn’t just HEAR this
album, you FELT it! The anger, honesty and pure emotion mixed with genius
lyrics makes this album one of my favorites. You could pop this double disc in
and party, cry or fight … it touched on everything!”
3. Dr. Dre “The Chronic”- Every new rapper and producer should
be required to listen to this album before being taken seriously. This album
was ground breaking and changed the way people looked at “Hip Hop”/”Rap”.
Classic.
2. Beastie Boys “Licensed To Ill”- I will never forget riding my
BMX with my walkman and bumping this album OVER and OVER again! So different at
the time and over 20 YEARS later – you can still throw on one of these tracks
at a club and get a reaction! Timeless.
1. Michael Jackson “Thriller” – Think what you want about Michael personally, but he was
one of the best to ever do it. Period. This is was the first album I memorized,
lip synced to and could not get enough of. Everything about this album was pure
genius!
