Justin Bieber has apologized for praying at a war shrine in Tokyo this week, inadvertently offending those who believe the shrine an affront to other Asian cultures. The shrine honors 2.5 million war dead, including 14 convicted war criminals. China and South Korea consider the shrine a symbol of Japan's past militarism and believe that visiting it shows a lack of understanding or remorse over wartime history. Bieber Instagrammed photos last night showing himself praying at the shrine. He's since removed them and posted, "I was misled to think the Shrines were only a place of prayer. To anyone I have offended, I am extremely sorry."
